‘Facing Nature’ is a visual installation where nature is the artist. A series of photographic portraits of stones resembling human faces put us in a poetic and peculiar ‘face to face’ encounter with nature. Familiar and imaginative personas are looking at us with human glances and emotions that we can not dodge. A complete set of universal facial expressions are hiding in these natural stones mirroring the core of our emotional existence.
In collaboration with geological climate researchers, the project investigates the evolutionary journey of these stones and explores how these silent faces are speaking to us about past climate and bringing us closer to see what’s ahead.
The work is based on a personal collection of stones.
